On 26 August 2019, Ambassador Waravuth Pouapinya paid a courtesy call on His Excellency Muhammed Al Qattam, Director of the Foreign Nationals Affairs Department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE to discuss on issues of mutual interests to help further strengthen the close and cordial relations and cooperation between the two countries, especially people-to-people contact through the promotion of two-way tourism, with an aim to increasing the number of tourists. Visa exemption or Visa on arrival for Thai passport holders were also raised for the UAE’s side consideration, apart from the issue on the protection of the Thai nationals residing in the UAE, which Director Al Qattam will render his full support to the Royal Thai Embassy.
