Thai Ambassador to the UAE joined the Minister of Tourism and Sports in presiding over the opening ceremony of Thailand Pavilion at Arabian Travel Market 2010
On 3 May 2010, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Thai Ambassador to the UAE welcomed H.E. Mr. Chumpol Silpa-Archa, Minister of Tourism and Sports, and high ranking officials from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) at Dubai International airport and hosted dinner in their honour on the occasion of their visit to the UAE to attend the Arabian Travel Market 2010 during 3 5 May 2010 at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition.
On 4 May 2010, the Minister along with the Ambassador and senior officials of TAT presided over the opening ceremony of the 440 sqm. Thailand Pavilion which was beautifully decorated in contemporary Thai style. The elegant pavilion welcomed 94 Thai exhibitors including hotels, tour operators, hospital, Fun Park etc. On this occasion, the Tourism Ministry gave a press interview to both Thai and UAE reporters regarding the involvement in this exhibition and clarification on the current political situation which should be resolved and return to normalcy in the near future. This Minister reaffirmed this commitment during the press conference in the afternoon where he cited the roadmap for reconciliation proposed by the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the concept of 3G which comprises of Good Health, Good Food, and Good value was promoted among participated media representatives in the UAE and Middle Eastern region.3
Arabian Travel Market is the largest annual travel exhibition in the region and third largest in world after the events in Germany and the UK. This year, 960 exhibitors from country tourism boards, airlines, hotels, tour operators etc. participated, representing a 15% growth compared with last years figure.
