Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi participated in Small World – Abu Dhabi 2011

            Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi presented a Thai pavilion, Thai food, and traditional performance at the “Small World – Abu Dhabi 2011” on 31 March 2011 at Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi. 

           “Small World – Abu Dhabi 2011” was a one evening event to raise funds for underprivileged children around the world under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. It witnessed the participation of 28 countries in the form of stalls, presenting authentic national food, and cultural performance on the stage. This year, Small World was able to raise two million Dirhams (around 16 million Baht) which would be funded by the Red Crescent of the United Arab Emirates.

           Thailand had presented a Thai style pavilion serving authentic Thai food and delicacies including fish cake, chicken on toast, and coconut jelly. Meanwhile, Mrs. Viyada Charanasomboon, Spouse of Thai Ambassador to the UAE, presented a hand garland to H.E. the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to add a delicate touch of Thai during his visit to the Thai booth. H.E. the Minister also praised Thailand of its natural beauty and that the Emirates people love to travel to Thailand. He added that Thai food is delicious. For national performance, the “Kinari Dance” were performed before 3,000 guests. 

            In relation to the donation, the Embassy has nominated the Center for the Protection of Children’s Rights Foundation (CPCR) as the beneficiary which will be contacted directly by the Red Crescent of the UAE.
