On Friday 20 January 2017 at 09.30 hrs, the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Royal Thai Consulate General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates co-hosted the Buddhist merit making ceremony to pay tribute to His Majesty the Late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who passed away on 13th October 2016, on the occasion of 100-day cycle mourning which was presided  over by  H.E. Mr Komate Kamalanavin, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE and Mr Unnop Buranasate, Consul General of Thailand to Dubai.

The Buddhist ceremony was conducted by Than Chao Khun Phraphawanathammaphinan, Abbot of Wat Na Luang in Udon Thani  comprising of six monks and  was attended by Mr. Panot Punyahotra, Consul (Commercial) of Thai Trade Center  Dubai Office; Mr Chantouch Srinilta, General Manager UAE and Middle East of Thai Airways International Public Co Ltd, Mr Chaipat Supasi Airport Service Manager of Thai Airways International  Public Co Ltd ;  as well as diplomats and staff from Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Royal Thai Consulate General in Dubai and family, and over  100 Thais living in the United Arab Emirates. 

On this special occasion, the  Buddhist  monks delivered  “Dhamma” sermons and taught insight meditation to those interested and the Thai community presented an off season offering of  3,500 Dirhams and 4,040 Baht to the monks.
