On the 6 July 2016, H.E. Mr. Komate Kamalanavin, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Arab Emirates officially received the chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Abu Dhabi.

On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Komate Kamalanavin also host the ASEAN Group of Ambassadors’ Meeting where Ambassadors, Charge d' Affaires and representatives of the 7 ASEAN member countries based in Abu Dhabi, which are Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore Thailand and Vietnam, attended.

The meeting discussed the plan and preparation of the activities to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the ASEAN Community in 2017, as well as other activities to promote the relations among ASEAN countries in the United Arab Emirates and between ASEAN Countries and the United Arab Emirates.
