On 22 May 2026, the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi held a Commemorative Ceremony in Honour of Her Late Majesty Queen Rambhai Barni, Queen Consort of King Rama VII, on the occasion of UNESCO’s recognition of the 100th anniversary of Her Late Majesty’s legacy in education, sustainable social development, and gender equality. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Mr. Bolbongse Vangphaen, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of Embassy officials, members of Team Thailand in Abu Dhabi, their spouses, and the Thai community in the United Arab Emirates.
 
Ms. Valentina Bernasconi, Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the United Arab Emirates, honoured the ceremony with her presence and paid tribute to Her Late Majesty’s lifelong dedication and work. She also commended Thailand’s longstanding contribution to the humanitarian tradition, as well as its continued commitment to humanitarian action.
 
On this occasion, participants paid their respects before the portrait of Her Late Majesty and joined in Buddhist prayer and meditation to express profound remembrance of Her Late Majesty’s grace and virtuous royal conduct, as well as Her Late Majesty’s enduring devotion to the well-being of the Thai people.
