On 27 August 2026, Ambassador of Thailand to the United Arab Emirates H.E. Mr. Bolbongse Vangphan and Mrs. Chalinee Vangphan, Spouse, welcomed over 90 distinguished guests from the diplomatic, government, business and media communities, as well as representatives of Team Thailand agencies, to the Royal Thai Embassy for “Krua Thai: The Art of Thai Cuisine – An Evening of Thai Flavours & Friendship.”

Ambassador Bolbongse highlighted the gastronomic tradition of Thai food, underscoring its role as an expression of Thailand’s culinary heritage, craftsmanship and cultural identity. He added that Thai dishes are a great expression of sustainable cooking, contributing to Thailand’s commitment to sustainability, food security and responsible consumption. A special demonstration of preparing fruit som tam by the chef of the Ambassador’s Residence offered an introduction to the delicate balance of flavours and culinary techniques characteristic of Thai cuisine. Guests then enjoyed an artistic presentation of Thai dishes, featuring a selection of beautifully crafted dishes that showcased the richness, diversity and distinctive flavours of Thai cuisine. The presentation celebrated the careful use of ingredients and traditional culinary heritage, while introducing a contemporary artistic touch. A particular highlight of the décor was the incorporation of the traditional “Tu Kab Khao”, a wooden food cabinet traditionally found in Thai households, providing a unique connection between Thailand’s culinary traditions and contemporary dining.

The event further highlighted Thai cuisine as an important element of Thailand’s soft power, demonstrating how food can bring cultures together and serve as a meaningful platform for sharing Thailand’s heritage, creativity and cultural identity with the international community.
