On 29 September 2025, Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs, co-chaired the 1st United Arab Emirates (UAE) – Thailand Consular Consultations with H.E. Faisal Eissa Ali Hussain Lutfi, Assistant Undersecretary for Consular Affairs, Ministry of foreign Affairs of the UAE, at Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE in Abu Dhabi. This inaugural consular consultations is convened in the auspicious year of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Thailand - UAE diplomatic relations in 2025. Both sides discussed various consular issues, including the protection of own nationals, immigration facilitation, cooperation in case of emergency situation, as well as collaborative effort to combat drug trafficking. Both sides also exchanged an updated information on innovations and technology for the betterment of the consular services provided to their respective citizens and foreigners According to 2024 statistics, approximately 170,000 Emirati tourists visited Thailand, and approximately 19,000 Thais resided in the UAE.
