Royal Thai Embassy, Abu Dhabi celebrated H.M. the Queen’s Birthday Anniversary 12 August 2009

            On the occasion of H.M. the Queen’s Birthday Anniversary on 12 August 2009, Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi in collaboration with the Thai community in the UAE organized activities in Her Majesty’s honour during 6 – 7 August 2009.

            On 6 August 2009, a number of Thai Nationals residing in Abu Dhabi and peripheral areas participated in the blood donation activity at the Blood Bank in Abu Dhabi.

            In the afternoon of 7 August 2009, a substantial number of Thai Nationals living in the UAE gathered at Khalifa Bowling Centre to play the charity bowling competition, winning cups from Foreign Minister of Thailand, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE, Thai Consul General in Dubai, Commercial Consul in Dubai, Director of Tourism Authority of Thailand in Dubai, and General Manager of Thai Airways International in Dubai. Afterward, participant of bowling competition along with other Thai Nationals and their families of around 400 in total proceeded to the Ambassador’s residence for candles lighting ceremony and other related protocol to wish H.M. the Queen a very Happy Birthday, followed by a dinner reception.

            In light of such auspicious occasion, a number of performances including live band music, traditional Thai dances, and karaoke singing were witnessed at the function. Moreover, the Embassy for the first time introduced an activity to express Mother and Child’s love and care to celebrate Mother’s Day along with H.M. the Queen’s Birthday, by inviting junior Thai Nationals in the UAE to nominate their work to compete in the talent contest. This year, a number of Thai children had participated and had all received awards from the Ambassador.
