First Meeting of ASEAN Committee in Abu Dhabi (ACAD)

                        On 27 September 2011, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, attended the First Meeting of the ASEAN Committee in Abu Dhabi (ACAD) at the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

                        The meeting, which was the first after the Heads of Missions of ASEAN Member States signed the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of ACAD on 8 August 2011, exchanged information on the progress of the ACAD’s formal establishment.  It also approved the formation of ACAD Body and Secretariat, ACAD financial arrangements as well as the ACAD logo.

The participants further agreed to organize the ASEAN Night reception on 24 November 2011 at the Indonesian Ambassador’s Residence, in order to raise ASEAN’s profile in Abu Dhabi and to formally bid farewell to the departing Indonesian Ambassador. They also discussed the possibility of arranging an ASEAN Family Day in the coming weeks to help bond ASEAN diplomats and their families in Abu Dhabi.
