In the evening of 11 April 2013, H.E. Warawudh Chuwirach, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, together with his wife and staff of The Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, attended the Songkran Festival 2013 at the Sheraton Corniche Hotel hosted by Mrs. Banjong Casey and Thai ladies group in Abu Dhabi.
           In his opening remarks, H.E. the Ambassador described the history and the meaning of Songkran while expressing his appreciation to Mrs. Casey for organizing the Songkran Festival over many years, which helped promote an amazing Thai tradition in the UAE. The proceeds will be donated for the poor children in Thailand for education and food.
           The approximately 300 participants, included a large number of foreigners, enjoyed various activities, such as the auspicious water pouring ceremony on Buddha  image and the elderly, Miss Songkran pagent contest, Thai dance and kick boxing shows. Besides, there were lucky draws of entry tickets, included a return air ticket for Dubai-Bangkok which was sponsored by Thai Airways International Dubai Office. In addition, the Ambassador gave certificates to Thai ladies who supported the charity bazaar organized by the Embassy.
