On 18 November 2015, Mrs. Viphawan Benniman, Chargé d’Affaires, was invited to preside over the Loy Kra Thong Festival at St. Regis Saadiya Island.  
In the opening speech, the Chargé d’Affaires explained the history of Loy Kra Thong which dates back to over 700 hundred years. She also expressed appreciation to St. Regis Saadiyat Island for organizing the event, which would be held from 18 – 28 November 2015 in Sontaya Restaurant, and helping promote Thai culture and tradition among participants from various nationalities. Special thanks also went to Etihad for their contribution that helped to realize the event.  

Afterwards, the Chargé d’Affaires led all participants to float their Kratongs at the pool of the restaurant. Besides enjoying delicious Thai dinner prepared by Chef Peter of Sontaya Restaurant, the participants were entertained by performances of a folklore troupe “Thep Sattha” from southern part of Thailand.
