On 12 October 2018, the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai jointly organized a Buddhist Ceremony to commemorate the passing of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The event was presided by Mrs. Viphawan Benniman, Chargé d' Affaires a.i. The event was also attended by Mr. Rangsant Srimangkorn, Acting Consul-General of Thailand in Dubai, Miss Sopis Mudpongtua, Minister Counsellor of the Thai Labour Office in the United Arab Emirates as well as officials from the Royal Thai Embassy, Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai and Thai nationals residing in the United Arab Emirates. An approximate of  100 persons attended the ceremony.

On this occasion, Mrs. Buaban C. Tucker, president of the Thai Buddhist Circle in Abu Dhabi, conducted the participants to pray for His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej which was followed by a nine-minute insight meditation. The participants  also paid  tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and  watched the video “Tribute to His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej”.
