Ambassador meets with Chairman of Ras al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry

On 21 May 2024, H.E. Mr. Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador, together with Ms. Nipa Nirannoot, Consul-General to Dubai and Northern Emirates, and Mr. Pitichai Ratananaka, Director, Thai Trade Center in Dubai, met with H.E. Mr. Mohamed Ali Musabbeh Al Nuaimi, Chairman of Ras al Khaimah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RAKCCI), to discuss opportunities to strengthen trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
 
Both sides agreed that Thailand and the UAE, especially Ras al Khaimah (RAK), can increase trade cooperation in various areas; Thai products, wellness products and services, tourism and jewelleries. There are approximately 15-20 Thai business in RAK, which are registered with RAKEZ and both sides hope to increase the number in the near future. Moreover, both sides discussed the possibility of co-hosting a “Thai Week” to help showcase Thai products in RAK on the occasion of 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between UAE – Thailand. The possibility of establishing an official Thai – RAK Business Council between chambers to facilitate the implementation of economic activities between the two parties was also discussed.
 
There is a number of big-scale Thai businesses in RAK such as Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCG), which has clinker cement and cement factories in RAK and has been in close partnership with RAK Ceramics. Others brands are also representing Thailand in RAK such as the new Anantara Mina Al Arab Resort and two Thai restaurants, namely Thai Gate and Little Bangkok.
