Thai Ambassador to the UAE presented copy of the Letters of Credence to UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs

            On 6th January 2009, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon presented a copy of the Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Thailand to the UAE to H.E. Dr. Anwar Mohamed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This implies that the Ambassador can now officially perform his full duty as of such presentation.                                                                                         

            On this occasion, the Ambassador and the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs exchanged views on bilateral and multilateral relations between Thailand and the UAE.   Both sides agreed that the two countries had close ties in all dimensions especially the people to people relations as proven by the number of UAE nationals who had visited Thailand for medical purposes as well as tourism. However, Thailand and the UAE could further strengthen relations by expanding cooperation in various areas such as trade and investment, which the UAE would be willing to extend full support to the Ambassador in delivering the above goals. Moreover, the two sides were also pleased with the reciprocal supports in certain multilateral forums.
