Thai community in Abu Dhabi donated proceeds from Loy Kratong  Day 2010 to assist                 Thai nationals in distress

            Mrs. Benjarat Thompson, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Loy Kratong Day 2010 in Abu Dhabi, together with Committee Members, called on H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, to present the proceeds after expense of 2,000 Dirhams or about 16,000 Baht from organizing activities on Loy Kratong Day 2010 to help Thai nationals in distress and lack adequate fund.                                                                                 

The Embassy has lent its support to the core organizer of this function for many consecutive years including the most recent event which took place on 18 November 2010 at the Club, Abu Dhabi which was presided over H.E. the Ambassador of Thailand. He also presented a return ticket to Thailand as sponsored by Thai Airways International to winner of the raffle draw.                                        

Loy Kratong Day 2010 exhibited various cultural performances including traditional dances, Kratong competition, Ms. Noppamas contest, and Kratong floating. It was participated by over 200 foreign and Thai guests.

This form of cultural celebration plays an important role in promoting Thailand as well as her good will among the foreign nationals. It also serves as a platform for strengthening the Thai community abroad. As a result, the Embassy has attached great importance and provided continuous support throughout the years.
