On 2 June 2012 at Dusit Thani Dubai, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, opened the welcoming reception of Amazing Tastes of Thailand Fest 2012. The Fest is hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Dubai Office, during 8 June – 7 July 2012 to promote Thai cuisine and Thai restaurants in the UAE. 13 Thai restaurants in Dubai and Fujairah were selected by TAT to participate in this Fest.

            In his opening speech, H.E. the Ambassador revealed that the promotion of Thai food after the slogan “Kitchen to the World” had been a priority agenda under various Thai Governments. This does not only aim at getting more people to appreciate the delicious taste of the Thai cuisine but also at ensuring the highest quality of Thai food export in terms of hygienic standard and religious norm, including the development of Halal food industry which is highly important for the Arab markets.    

           The Royal Thai Embassy itself has been actively promoting the Thai cuisine. In the past 3 months alone, it organized the Thai Day 2012, the Thai Festival 2012 and also participated at the Asian Food Fair 2012. Up next, the Embassy is currently planning to organize an event to promote Thai food, fruits and vegetables with LuLu Hypermarket in the upcoming months.
