Thai Camp Bosses’ Meeting in Abu Dhabi
On 13 July 2012, the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi organized the Thai Camp Bosses’ Meeting at the Embassy’s Conference Room. The objective was to meet and greet representatives of Thai labours in Abu Dhabi and to convey useful information on working and living in the UAE to Thai labours under their supervision. A total of 25 Camp Bosses and Thai labours attended the meeting.
H.E. Ambassador Somchai Charanasomboon presided over the meeting and briefed on the political and security situation in the UAE, on the Embassy’s work in assisting Thais in difficulties and requested the camp bosses to closely supervise their workers. Then, Mr. Banyat Siripreecha, Labour Attache, summarized the overall situation of Thai labours in the UAE, the activities of the Office of Labour Affairs in Abu Dhabi and raised a few case studies to provide lessons. Afterwards, H.E. the Ambassador and the Labour Attache listened to problems and suggestions from the participants as well as inquired each camp boss on their colleagues’ well-being and gave useful tips regarding the various concerns they are facing.
After the meeting, H.E. the Ambassador handed over Takraw balls and nets which were sponsored by the Office of Labour Affairs to each camp boss to support recreation among Thai labours. Then, all participants proceeded to the Ambassador’s Residence for a delicious Thai luncheon hosted by H.E. the Ambassador and his wife.
