On 18 August 2012, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, presided over a Sepak Takraw tournament for Thai labours of Impregilo company at Mussafah in the suburb of Abu Dhabi.
The Sepak Takraw tournament was organized by the Thai camp bosses at Impregilo to provide recreation and strengthen unity and friendship among Thai workers during the long Islamic holiday of Eid-Al-Fitr. It was contested by 8 teams of Thai workers and watched with great interest by other Thai and foreign labours as well as members of the Thai community in Abu Dhabi. After the 4-hour competition, Ambassador Somchai handed over trophies and medals to the winning team and other players. H.E. the Ambassador then delivered some remarks to Thai labours on how to work and live in the UAE before leading the candle-lighting ceremony and singing of royal anthems on the occasion of H.M. the Queen’s 80th Birthday Anniversary.
