On 8 June 2013, H.E. Warawudh Chuwiruch, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, gave certificates to 13 Thai youths who have studied Thai language at the Royal Thai Embassy during 2012-13 academic year.
In the aforementioned ceremony, the Ambassador was briefed by the Thai language teachers on past year’s curriculum, before the students recited Thai poems and text passages to show their progress in Thai language. Afterwards, the Ambassador thanked everybody involved for sustaining the Thai language classes over many years and reiterated that the acquired knowledge would be valuable for all students’ future. The Ambassador then invited all teachers, students and parents to a luncheon at his Residence.
The Embassy has been providing classroom and teaching equipments for the Thai language classes since 2009, in order to support the improvement of writing and reading skills of Thai youths who already speak Thai fluently. At present, the classes take place at the Embassy every Friday morning (which is public holiday) between 10.00-12.00 hrs. The students, between 5 and 18 years of age, are divided into three classes according to their knowledge level. Furthermore, cultural activities such as singing of Thai national anthem, practice of Thai musical instruments and plays are incorporated into the classes to instill “Thainess” into the students. These have enabled them to perform at various cultural activities organized by the Embassy.
