Warawudh Chuwiruch, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, together with Acting Thai Consul-General in Dubai and representatives of Team Thailand to the UAE attended the Thai Business Night, the formal opening reception of the Thai Pavilion inside the 35th Mid East Watch & Jewelry Show at Expo Centre Sharjah.
In his opening speech, Ambassador Warawudh stressed Thailand’s potential to become a hub for gems and jewelry, thanks to the exquisite jewelry-cutting skills of Thai professionals which meet international standards. In 2012, precious stones and jewelry was Thailand’s number 3 export product to the world with a value of 13 billion USD, while it was Thailand’s number 2 export product to the UAE. The latter export value even increased by another 48% in the first 7 months of this year.
After the opening ceremony, the guests were entertained with spectacular performances by Sbun-Nga troupe, whose participation was sponsored by the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Later, Mr. Jarudol Tulyakijja, Vice President of the Thai Gems & Jewelry Traders Association, led the Ambassador on a meet-and-greet with all 25 Thai exhibitors. The 35th Mid East Watch & Jewelry Show is running from 1-5 October 2013 and counts over 450 exhibitors from all over the world.
