H.E. Warawudh Chuwiruch, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, visited and supported 40 Thai teachers and students who participated at the Expo-Sciences International (ESI) 2013 from 15-17 September 2013 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and hosted a lunch for the delegation at his Residence on 20 September 2013.
ESI is a non-competitive, biennial event showcasing scientific projects created by young people from around the world. It is organized by MILSET (International Movement for Leisure Activities in Science and Technology), an official partner of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). About 1,500 instructors and students from 55 countries presented their achievements at this year’s edition.
The participating Thai students, ranging from Grade 8-11, are creators of scientific projects which were selected by the Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) of Thailand. Their projects include, for example, cassava slicing machine, solar-powered fish feeding maching, flood warning machine and foot massage equipment. The Ambassador also exchanged his ideas on how to further develop the projects and make them commercially viable.
