On 26 January 2023, H.E. Mr. Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, met with H.E. Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economy, at the Ministry of Economy, Abu Dhabi.

The two sides praised cordial relationship between Thailand – UAE, as well as the growth of bilateral trade, investment and energy cooperation. Moreover, both sides discussed the possibility to initiate the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the UAE – Thailand, which will be a key tool to boost import and export between the two countries. Currently, trade volume between Thailand – UAE has increased by 92.42 percentage at 19 billion USD (as of January – November 2022), reflecting that Thailand – UAE are one another’s high ranking trade partners. Nevertheless, CEPA will be an essential mechanism that spurs higher bilateral trade volume and encourages more export volume from Thailand through the UAE, as a re-exporter, to other regions such as Europe and Africa.
