On 13 March 2023, H.E. Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of Thailand, together with Mr. Vitoon Chaisomboonpan General Director of PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited in MENA, met with H.E. Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, at Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Abu Dhabi.

The Minister welcomed the Ambassador and both sides discussed about boosting investment and cooperation, especially in both traditional and new energy cooperation, petrochemical, infrastructure and land and sea transportation, as well as port management. Two countries have important investment in energy in each country; 1. Mubadala has invested in off-shore producing fields in Thailand since 2004 2. PTT MENA Abu Dhabi opened an office in Abu Dhabi in 2019, investing in 5 projects in the UAE, namely, the Abu Dhabi Offshore 1 Project, the Abu Dhabi Offshore 2 Project, the Abu Dhabi Offshore 3 Project, and Concession Area A and C in Sharjah and 3. PTT MENA opened an office in 2021, joining ICE Future Abu Dhabi (IFAD) and trading in MENA.

Furthermore, the Ambassador expressed Thailand’s readiness to support and participate in the upcoming COP28 at the end of this year.
