Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand met with Minister of Climate Change and Environment

On 28 March 2023, H.E. Sorayut Chasombat, Ambassador of Thailand, met with H.E. Mariam Bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Almheir, Minister of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) at the Ministry’s Dubai Office.


On this occasion, the Minister welcomed the Ambassador and the Ambassador praised the UAE’s fast development progress in all dimensions, especially in the food industry, which has helped to fortify national and regional food security in a sustainable fashion. Furthermore, the Ambassador said that Thailand is an agricultural country with a multitude of knowledge and best practices, and stands ready to work with the UAE in every way or mean to strengthen food security in all levels.


In addition, the Minister reiterated that food security would be one of the main agendas of COP28, which the UAE will chair this year. The Summit will highlight urgent matters such as committing to creating fast and seamless transformation of the ecosystem and food system. Furthermore, the UAE will be committed to encouraging partner countries to allocate funds for the better management of climate change, energy, and food, with the aim to leave no countries behind. Furthermore, COP28 will be the first COP Summit that will highlight the Youth Climate Champion Programme, in which 100 youths from different countries around the world will participate.
