On 24-25 March 2025, the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, with the support of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Dubai, organized a Skill Enhancement Training Course on Thai Massage for Health Abroad. Over 100 Thai massage therapists attended the course in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Mrs. Phaphipargorn Suwannagas, Deputy Director of the Bureau of Medical Hub Industry Promotions, Department of Health Service Support, Ministry of Public Health of Thailand, and Mr. Bhuvadol Mungjittamman, Co-Founder and CEO of ThaiHand Massage and Vice President of the Thai Spa Association, travelled from Thailand to serve as the instructors. Participants received intensive training on Thai massage for health techniques, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. Additionally, they practiced English language skills needed for the provision of professional services for their customers. All of the knowledge and skills learnt will be helpful to support their careers in Thai health massage in the UAE.
Thai massage and spa services are the top occupation among Thai workers in the UAE, accounting for nearly 30%. Therefore, besides skill development, the Training Course played a crucial role in gathering Thai massage therapists in the UAE together for the first time, allowing them to network and build connections. Following the completion of the course, the Royal Thai Embassy and the Royal Thai Consulate-General supported the establishment of the Thai Massage for Health Club in Abu Dhabi and in Dubai. The Clubs will serves as communication and support platforms for Thai massage therapists in the UAE, fostering mutual assistance and professional growth in the future.
