On 16 August 2023, His Excellency Mr. Sorayut Chasombat, the Ambassador of Thailand, his spouse and the staff of the Royal Thai Embassy paid a visit to the Mohamed Bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence University (MBZUAI). The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Sultan Al Hajji, Vice President of Public Affairs and Alumni Relations, and Ms. Rawdha AlMeraikhi, Associate Director of Outreach.

MBZUAI is the only university in the United Arab Emirates dedicated to teaching artificial intelligence and offers Master of Science (MSc) and PhD degrees in AI-related fields including Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing. Additionally, two new programmes in Robotics and Computer Science have been added to the curriculum to fulfill the increased demand for these abilities in the digital employment market.

The Ambassador of Thailand commended the University for its achievements in the AI learning industry and expressed his interest for Thai students to study at MBZUAI in the future. Mr. Sultan Al Hajji informed the delegation that the University offers 100 full grant scholarships to students from various nationalities each year and suggested that the Embassy help encourage Thai students to apply for the scholarships since at the moment, there are no Thai students studying at MBZUAI.
