Thai Ambassador to the UAE welcomed Chief of Thai Defense Force
On 19 May 2012, H.E. Mr. Somchai Charanasomboon, Thai Ambassador to the UAE, welcomed and hosted a dinner in honour of General Tanasak Patimapragorn, Chief of Defense Force, on the occasion of his transit in Dubai before proceeding to Republic of Seychelles for official functions.
H.E. the Ambassador welcomed and briefed the delegation about bilateral relations between Thailand and the UAE which had improved significantly in all dimensions. In fiscal year 2012, H.E. the Foreign Minister of Thailand paid a visit to the UAE in November 2011 followed by the recent visit of H.E. the Commerce Minister in May 2012. Meanwhile, there has been progress on the negotiation of Agreement on the Promotion and Protection of Investment. From cultural aspect, the Embassy has been actively promoting Thai culture and tourism by organizing the Thai Festival 2012 and supporting newly opened Thai restaurants and spas. The Ambassador also highlighted a sharp rise in the number of Thai workers in the UAE, particularly in Abu Dhabi, while the number of Emiratis visiting Thailand has increased consistently.
The Chief of Defense Force together with Admiral Surasak Rounroengrom, Commander in Chief of the Royal Thai Navy, is scheduled to visit and inspect the Combined Task Force 151 in Seychelles, which is currently headed by Rear Admiral Tanin Likitwong.
