The Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi supported the Loy Kratong Festival 2012, organized by the Thai Women’s Club (TWC) in Abu Dhabi on Friday 16 November 2012 at The Club, Abu Dhabi.
           Having been invited to preside over this year’s edition, Ms. Chatsinee Wutimananon, Chargé d’Affaires, delivered an opening speech on the background and meaning of Loy Kratong and thanked the TWC for hosting this yearly event, which again managed to attract some 200 Thais and foreigners, i.e. full capacity of the venue. The activity complemented the Embassy’s tasks to promote Thai culture in the UAE. Afterwards, the Chargé d’Affaires led all participants to float their Kratongs at the beach area of the Club.
           Besides enjoying delicious Thai dinner, the participants of Loy Kratong 2012 were entertained by the beauty pageant or Miss Noppamas contest, the best Kratong contest, recitals of Thai musical instruments and Thai traditional dances. They were also in contention to win several prizes including a Dubai-Bangkok return air ticket sponsored by Thai Airways International Dubai Office and two prizes sponsored by the Embassy.
